With over a year at JK Moving, Holly has embraced her role as an Inside Sales Moving Consultant for the Commercial team. Her journey has been defined by a passion for making a positive impact and a commitment to personal growth.
What led Holly to a career at JK Moving?
Holly’s path to JK Moving was inspired by her volunteer work at the JK Community Farm. “At my old company, we were required to volunteer 24 hours a year, and one of the options was the JK Community Farm. It quickly became one of my favorite places to volunteer,” she explained. “I remember thinking, ‘If a company cares this much about providing food to Loudoun County food shelters, this is somewhere I want to work!’”
Despite having no prior experience in the moving industry, Holly felt drawn to JK’s commitment to giving back. “My experience here has confirmed what I felt as a volunteer – JK genuinely cares, and I’m proud to be part of it. Plus, the work-life balance is perfect. I feel so fortunate to be with a company that values that,” she added.
Holly’s advice for newcomers to the moving industry
“Be patient with yourself and rely on the people around you,” Holly advised. “When I first started, I didn’t realize how long it would take to truly understand the fast-paced, ever-changing nature of the moving industry. My coworkers have been my greatest resource, and I’m so grateful for their willingness to help me learn and grow.”
Who is Holly Ingalls outside of work?
A lifelong Virginian, Holly recently got engaged and moved to a farm with her fiancé. “We’ve been renovating the house and starting our own herd of Scottish Highland cows,” she shared. “This past year, we welcomed our first three heifers, Honey, Penelope, and Annebelle. They are just part of the family for now, though we hope to breed them in the future.” Alongside their herd, they also care for about 20 chickens, adding to the vibrant life on the farm.
When she’s not working, Holly spends time at the barn with her animals or enjoys the company of her dogs, Bo and Phoebe. “I love working from home with them by my side. Farming is a whole new world for me, so I’m always learning and challenging myself, both personally and professionally,” she said.
Personal achievements and future aspirations
Holly takes pride in embracing new challenges in her career and on the farm. “I think I’m most proud of jumping into a new career and lifestyle with no previous experience,” she reflected. “It’s scary to step into an industry without any background, but it’s also incredibly motivating. I’m constantly learning something new, which keeps me excited and engaged.”
She also believes her values align with her work. “One of my core beliefs is to always leave things better than you found them, and I feel like I’m able to do that both professionally and personally,” she said.
In the future, Holly dreams of transforming her farm into an animal sanctuary. “I’d love to provide a safe haven for rescued animals like cows, chickens, goats, and sheep,” she shared. “If you haven’t seen The Gentle Barn on Instagram, you should check it out – that’s the goal.”
Exploring connections: Holly Ingalls’ literary journeys
A recent family reunion uncovered a potential connection to Laura Ingalls Wilder, the author of Little House on the Prairie series. “We discovered her dad was born in the same town as my grandfather, and her uncle might be a relative of mine,” she said. “We’re still digging into the details, but it’s been so much fun to learn about!”
An avid reader, Holly cites Travels with Charley as one of her all-time favorite books. “A few years ago, I went on a cross-country road trip that felt like I was living in the book,” she shared. “It’s had such a lasting impact on me.”
Holly’s dedication to her work, passion for community service, and adventurous spirit make her an invaluable member of the JK Moving team.
